Project "Minuteman" vs. Bush, ACLU and Gangs?
Speaking of matches made anywhere but in heaven (e.g. Sean Hannity and Rev. Jesse Jackson? Bill Clinton and George Bush Sr?), it appears that some strange bedfellows are coming together again - this time against a group of concerned citizens who are taking a stand against the pandemic influx of illegals along our southern border.
Over 1,000 citizens and legal immigrants have come together under the banner of Project "Minuteman" and will be fanning out across the Arizona/Mexico border this weekend in an attempt to bring national attention to bear on the flood of illegal immigration through that region. Their unlikely collective of nemeses? President Bush, Mexican President Fox (called them "migrant-hunters"), the ACLU and the notorious Salvadoran gang "Mara Salvatrucha" (who have vowed to teach the Minutemen "a lesson").
I would have to call this nothing short of a recipe for disaster. I would also hope that such a pickle as this would give our usually right-minded President (in my opinion) some pause to reflect on his position.
Perhaps I'm naïve, but I am having a very hard time understanding the need for high-tech missile defense shielding, ultimately costing hundreds of billions of dollars, when the biggest threat to our national security is simply walking (or swimming) across the border every single day in droves. Work permits and political correctness aside, is it just me or don't Arabs often strongly resemble Latin-Americans? Even if they are caught (and subsequently released back to Mexico to try again later), how would Joe Patrolman be able to distinguish between them if they were smart enough to have learned some Spanish or at least to keep silent?
