Italian Hostage Freed - but Shot by Soldiers
It really burns me up to read some of these liberal blogs. How can they so easily conclude that the American Soldier is at fault in everything that happens in Iraq? I won't bother giving links to their pathetic sites, but essentially they are suggesting that this was either some trigger-happy bungling or an actual plot to assassinate the Italian Hostage. Apparently, the hostage herself is making this claim as well.
In case you don't know the story: Guiliana Sgrena, journalist for a Socialist Italian newspaper, was freed by Iraqi insurgent captors on Friday. While driving at high-speed through a U.S. forces check-point, soldiers opened fire on the vehicle when it failed to slow down or stop, killing an Italian Secret Service agent and wounding Sgrena in the shoulder.
Here are my comments on that liberal 'Blog in response to a foolish Frenchman's contention that it was a plot.
It seems a bit convenient that you forgot your password - although I honestly can't imagine anyone lying about being French.
I don't think it is hard to believe that the American troops somehow felt threatened - nor is it hard to imagine that the car carrying the Italian hostage and her rescuer might have been driving at high speeds and could have overlooked some safety precautions (in their haste) when approaching the checkpoint.
To suggest that it was a plot to assassinate the journalist for something she knows is absurd - which leads me to believe that you may be French, after all.
I have been to Italy and France many times, and will never hesitate to visit because of what people like you say I should do. I won't insult the Italians as you can't speak for them, but it can be said that YOU would be speaking German if it were not for the Americans. A cliche, perhaps, but true nonetheless. Maybe someday your country will remember who your friends are (were) and for once do the right thing yourselves.
For now, your nation seems pathetic, your leader a buffoon, and your traditional French cowardice and unjustifiable snobbery is getting old very quickly. France is a weak, third world country out of control with its immigration, taxes and unemployment. That is my reason for not visiting your silly little country again anytime soon.
