Terri Schiavo - Let Her R.I.P....Okay?
Although the title of this 'Blog is "Righting America," which to many implies only conservative thinking, the deeper (more important) implication is "Doing the RIGHT THING in and for America." You know, that whacky double entendre thing. I just have to say, now that Terri has gone without food and water for over six days and the judicial/legislative process has been exhausted, it is time to let her go. I say, thanks Mr. President, Governor Bush and the rest, but now it's time to adhere to the courts' decisions and follow the laws of our land. Stop the friggin' politics already!
Let me just say that my family faced a similar situation with my 70 year-old mother, who had in years past indicated to my dad that she would not want to be preserved in an incapacitated state by life support. After her accident, in which she had fallen and hit her head (subsequently developing an aneurism) and eventually slipped into a coma, we decided to remove her feeding tubes and allow her to die. I'm not gonna lie to you folks, it was a terrible two days. I had flown back home from Bahrain to essentially stand a death watch with my family. I still think about those two days, but do not regret that we stood by her wishes, albeit spoken to just my father in previous years.
