Righting of this Great Country
Friends,
Now that that CRAZY and emotionally charged election is behind us (well, for most of us anyway), it's time for us to support our troops and our government once again! Yeah, that phrase sounds like a punchline these days, but there was a time when we did trust our government. What has changed? Why is it that our Grandparents were so willing to give up so much and expect so little in return - all on the word of Uncle Sam that we had to save the world yet again.
There were no Howard Sterns or Michael Mores making hundreds of millions of AMERICAN DOLLARS by criticizing AMERICAN troops, government and in fact the majority of its population. Will we continue to idolize and enrich angry bigmouths like Bill Mahrer who have never so much as lifted a finger to protect this country? Movie stars actually ENLISTED for service during World War II, but now? Mostly, they say and do things that HURT us and, perhaps, result in even more losses of young American lives by emboldening our enemies and destroying our troops' morale.
As spoken by the last truly great democratic president of this country, phrases like "Ask not what your country can do for you..." could never now end in a sentence suggesting that we should look at what we might do for our country.
Where did we go wrong? How can we make it RIGHT once again? Can we once again give our elected leaders the benefit of the doubt to do the right thing, and then collectively support and even defend them?
Any thoughts, from EITHER SIDE of the aisle, are encouraged...
